Established in 1886, Ruese Insurance Group has become the most respected insurance agency in west central Ohio. We specialize in Commercial, Automotive and Homeowners Insurance. You may not usually think about insurance until you need it. That's why it is our job to make sure you are covered when that time comes. We take the time to sit down with you, face to face, to thoroughly go over your insurance needs and answer any questions you may have. Ruese Insurance Group has been slowly expanding over the years, but, with just nineteen employees, retains the superb service only a small company can offer.

History
The insurance agency now known as McColloch-Baker Insurance Service was established in 1901 by Seth McColloch. McColloch’s primary business was real estate lending and a reliable source for property insurance coverage was needed for this business. Therefore the agency was formed. The insurance operations gradually grew and, in 1920, McColloch’s son, Frank Z. McColloch, took them over. Frank McColloch had just returned from service in World War I. With this change in ownership, the name “Frank Z. McColloch Agency” was adopted.

In 1941 Melvin E. Baker joined the Agency and the business became a partnership. However, the business name remained unchanged. In 1956, Jerry McColloch, Frank McColloch’s son, joined the Agency following service in the U.S. Air Force. Jerry had majored in insurance at Ohio State and he became the office manager as well as an agent marketing all lines of coverage. In 1957, a new partnership was formed between Frank, Melvin and Jerry. With this change, a new name was adopted: McColloch-Baker Agency.

Finally, in 1961, the business was incorporated under the name “McColloch-Baker Insurance Service, Inc.” The shareholders were Frank, Melvin and Jerry. Melvin passed away in 1963 and Frank retired in 1967, before passing away in 1971. Jerry became the sole shareholder and the structure of the business remained unchanged until the Agency was purchased by the Ruese Agency on February 1, 2003.
