Established in 1886, Ruese Insurance Group has become the most respected insurance agency in west central Ohio. We specialize in Commercial, Automotive and Homeowners Insurance. You may not usually think about insurance until you need it. That's why it is our job to make sure you are covered when that time comes. We take the time to sit down with you, face to face, to thoroughly go over your insurance needs and answer any questions you may have. Ruese Insurance Group has been slowly expanding over the years, but, with just nineteen employees, retains the superb service only a small company can offer.

History
Ratermann Insurance was founded by Adolph F. Ratermann in 1904. In that year he became licensed with the Michigan Mutual Life Insurance Company and began to sell their life products. Later he was an agent for the Midland Mutual Life Insurance Company and in 1937 became an agent for Motorists Mutual Insurance Company. Adolph continued to work in the insurance business until his death in 1950.

Urban E. Ratermann took over the operations of the insurance agency in 1950 and continued with in the business for 35 years. The agency was now named, ‘Urban E. Ratermann Agency.’ Through his efforts of writing personal life insurance, commercial insurance, homeowners and auto insurance, he found it necessary to add other companies which included Republic Franklin Insurance Company, Indiana Insurance Company and Columbus Life Insurance Company. Because of his dedicated, personal service and professional ethics Urban E. Ratermann Agency became a well respected insurance agency with the clients and insurance companies he dealt with daily.

From 1950 to 1968 Urban Ratermann operated the agency from an office located in his home at 32 S. Main Street, Fort Loramie, Ohio. In 1968 the office was moved in to his new home located at 18 Greenback Road, Fort Loramie, and was operated from there until 1982. In September 1982 the office moved to 10800 St. Rt. 66, Fort Loramie, Ohio and continues to operate from this location today.

September 1982, Steve Ratermann joined the agency with his father, Urban. With their joint efforts the agency grew adding new clients, lines of business and companies.

In December of 1986 Urban Ratermann sold the agency to Steve Ratermann. At that time the agency was incorporated under the name, ‘Ratermann Insurance Agency, Inc.’ The agency continues to operate at 10800 St. Rt. 66, Fort Loramie, Ohio.

In January of 2001, the Ratermann Insurance Agency merged with the Ruese Insurance Agency of Sidney, Ohio. With this merger, Steve Ratermann became an owner in the Agency, along with Mark Dunham and Ralph Keister III.
